Islam In Brief

    Authenticityof the Qur’an

There has been no nation which cared about, holified and preserved itsDivine Scripture as the Muslim Ummah (nation) cared about, holified andpreserved the Qur’an. Unlike the Divine Scriptures which preceded it,the Qur’an is not kept in the hands of a particular group or clan ofMuslims so that one may suspect it to be tampered with or alterated;rather, it was within the reach of all Muslims. The Muslims arecommanded to recite it in their prayer and refer to it in all theirdisputes for a final judgment. The Qur’an was compiled at a time whenthose who committed it to memory were still alive. Allah has promisedto preserve the Qur’an, and it will be preserved till the Day ofJudgment. The Muslims today read and recite the Qur’anic texts thatwere read and recited during the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be on him, and his companions: No letter has been added to theQur’an or deleted from it. After examining the Qur’an, Dr. MauriceBucaille ascertains: «Thanks to its undisputed authenticity, thetext of the Qur’an holds a unique place among the books ofrevelation»’. 1. Dr. Maurice Bucaille is a surgeon who has takengreat interest in the scientific aspects of the Qur’an. He learntArabic and managed to study the Qur’an in its original text.
